Sustainable Warwick Minutes

Annual Zero-Waste Potluck gathering at Fence Road Farm Brewery was a BIG success!

Fence Road Farm Brewery at night and our hosts by their new pizza oven. More photos below!

In lieu of our August meeting, SW held a zero-waste potluck picnic. Our host was Dan Doyle, owner of The Oasis at Warwick and the Fence Road Farm Brewery. We were also joined by Dan's son, Zach, and Charlie Holmgren, the brewmaster. Our hosts offered us a preview of their new facilities — opening in September. The homemade dishes were delicious, boosted by an assortment of Zach's tasty, wood-fired pizzas. The soggy evening didn't dampen anyone's spirits under the well-lit, cozy event space. It was wonderful to gather with friends, old and new, despite the elements. Later in the evening, Dan shared his vision for the Oasis and craft brewery (and disc golf course), the journey he's been on, and how he would like this unique venue to be a place of community and collaboration. An informative Q&A followed. (Dan is also the keeper of our composting pile. A variety of volunteer vegetables were also offered to attendees!) Once open to the public, we encourage all to visit Dan's place and say hello to Dan, Zach and Charlie!

We have 2 ongoing calls for volunteers:

👉  First, the Food Scraps Collection Committee is signing up volunteers to collect food scraps at the farmers market on Sunday mornings during September and October. Please use the volunteer sign-up form or reach out to them at Garden@sustainablewarwick.org.

👉 Second, the Pollinator Pathway Committee is looking for new volunteers. We regularly meet at 9 AM on the second Tuesday of every month at Mountain Lake Park. However, we also visit MLP at other times throughout the month and would be happy to make appointments with new volunteers to participate. Pollinators@sustainablewarwick.org
