Repair Cafes thrive on interpersonal across-the-table proximity and passing items back-and-forth—and so does the COVID 19 virus. When Hudson Valley Catskill Repair Cafe Organizers polled volunteers to learn their thoughts about holding events during the pandemic, the overriding consensus was “For all the joy it brings, (to both volunteers and the public) it is not worth the potential harm.” Therefore, all regular, in-person, Hudson Valley Catskill repair events are suspended until 2021.
